We had some really cold days this last winter – like really cold! I’ve gotten used to it after living in South Dakota all these years, but wowza! There were times where I couldn’t take the little man outside, so we had to get creative with activities to do indoors. Thankfully I have enough stuff squirreled away that we were able to make it work. (Shhh! Don’t tell Andrew!) This “stick ’em” game was probably my favorite easy, cheap toddler fun!

It all started back in December during the first streak of days where the temp didn’t get above zero. We were crazy to venture out to go to the Post 
Office one day, and I got a lot of looks and comments about having a “baby” out in the cold. He was bundled up like no one’s business (and I normally don’t care what people think), but I figured we’d better stay inside during the next cold day.
So day #3 found us both going a bit stir crazy. Not wanting to park the little guy in front of the TV any more than necessary, I went into the kitchen and found some Glad Press & Seal wrap. I ripped off a hunk, grabbed some packaging tape, and set up a little “work station” in the living room. (Make sure to put the sticky stuff facing out! I’m embarrassed to say that I had to think about this for a moment…)
By now little man’s hands were all over the place. He was giggling that his hands were somewhat sticking to the “paper” – as he called it.
Next we had to figure out what to put on the “paper”. Luckily I had made a dollar store run a month prior – so we had popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners, and pom poms all ready to go! The pipe cleaners got cut into the thirds, and we started to play the “stick ’em” game.
I’m not sure which is more fun for the little man – sticking things on the “paper” or ripping them off! He seems to love them both equally! Regardless, I’m just glad we were able to have some easy, cheap toddler fun. All we had to do was replace the paper every couple days or whenever it started to get a little gross and we were all set for another round of fun!
