Awhile back I shared my number one tip for making chiropractic adjustments easier. I’ve had several people contact me since then asking if there’s anything else I do – and there is!
I’ve often been told to drink water after a chiropractor adjustment, which I always try to do. However, I’m not sure that I was really aware of just how much I was drinking. Then one day I happened to be super thirsty before my appointment and drank about 100 ounces of water throughout the morning.
My adjustment early that afternoon took longer than normal. I was quite out of place since I hadn’t been in the office for nearly two months, so I was expecting a painful visit and a sore afternoon.
But neither of those happened!
Apparently drinking that 100 ounces of water earlier in the day really prepared me for my adjustment. While the adjustment may have taken longer than normal (more bones were out of alignment since I had skipped an adjustment!), it was not as uncomfortable as some of my other appointments have been. AND I was less sore throughout the day.
Not sure that I’d actually stumbled upon something that worked, I decided to try it again at my next appointment.
So the next month I again drank more water than normal early in the morning before my appointment. And, guess what? It worked again! Minimal discomfort during the visit and less soreness afterward. WIN!
Two extra notes about trying this:
- Make sure to use the restroom before your adjustment. You don’t want that full bladder being pushed on.
- Continue to drink water throughout the day! Yes, it’s important to have water before your appointment, but it’s just as important to have water after.
