Whether you are just trying to keep up on the day to day cleaning and want to make the house look presentable – or you are having unexpected guests in a half-hour – there are simple ways to maximize cleaning so the house looks nice without taking too much time to clean. With these tips you’ll learn how to clean a house in 10 minutes.
In the Kitchen
Start by looking at the dishes. If you cannot get the dishes washed in 10 minutes and have time left to do other things, stack the dished. Scrape dishes as you put them together to condense the mess. Whether you leave the stacked dishes on the counter or in the sink, it makes the mess look neater.
Next, wipe the counters. Anything that is on the counter that shouldn’t be makes it look messy.
Once the counters are wiped and cleared, wipe the stove. The stove top seems to be one of those places that is always a mess.
If there is anything that is on the stovetop, it makes the whole kitchen looks a mess. Scrub down the stove top.
Lastly, sweep the floor. If there is anything on the floor – whether it is crumbs or papers – it makes the whole room look messier. In 10 minutes, these few kitchen cleaning steps make the whole room look like it is clean.
In the Living Room or Main Area
Start with the hot spots. Every room has at least one hot spot. Hot spots are the spot where everything ends up. It could be by the front door or on the end table. It is like a magical beacon that calls all the mess. Start there, but don’t spend more than 5 minutes. Sometimes, it is enough to put it into piles of whose is whose and send it to that person’s room. If that isn’t an option, stack it. Stacks of things will always appear cleaner than things that are strewed everywhere.
Then vacuum. A clean floor does wonders for a room. A room can be full of clutter and toys, but if the carpet is vacuumed, the room instantly looks better.
Lastly, if you have time, wipe the high dust spots. I mean the places where you look and someone has run their finger through the dust, making it obvious it is there. Wipe these areas.
In the Bathroom
Bathrooms are always a mess and a bit dirty. Eww! The first thing to focus on is the sink. Wipe away the water marks and dirty water mark rings. Dry off the counters.
Next, clean the toilet. Scrub the inside, the bottom of the seat, and the area where the lid lifts. These are the areas that get dirty fast.
Empty the trash. If you find there is no time to empty it, press it down.
If you have any extra time, do the floor. Even just a quick sweep is better than nothing at all.
If you have a bathroom that also has a shower or tub in it, pull the curtain. This saves you from feeling like you need to clean the tub right then.
