This post was originally sent as an e-mail from our little man to our family and friends. Since his birth, we’ve been sending people updates and pictures at least once a week. This one got an especially high response, and I wanted to share it here today…
Hello? Complaint department?
This is the baby. Well, I guess maybe now I’m the toddler. Anyway, I have a problem I’d like to report.
Today I was put down for a nap without a bottle. I repeat – withOUT a bottle.
Yes, I’m over a year old. Yes, I am becoming a big boy. But this is simply NOT acceptable!
Let’s actually back up a bit. Mom and dad (although it’s been mostly mom) have been taking things away from me for awhile now. First, they put my little baby bed away. Then they took away my favorite bathtub (although I guess that was a good thing because I got a BIGGER tub!). Pretty soon the pacifiers disappeared, but I guess I was never really a huge fan of them. And then they take away some of my favorite clothes saying that I’m getting too big for them. So what if my belly shows!? I’ve worked hard to look this darn cute, and if I want my belly to stick out – so be it!
Anyway, back to my original point. This whole bottle thing is simply unacceptable. I like my milk. Isn’t it bad enough that the milk changed? They think I didn’t notice, but I did. Now it comes right out of the fridge, and it’s cold. I’m not really a fan. Yes, they’re trying to be good parents by leaving it on the counter for a little while – but it’s still different.
I was able to handle all of that – but no bottle?! This sippy cup business is just too much!
I put up with it today. I might put up with it tomorrow. Then again, I might just boycott it altogether. Maybe I’ll even wake up in the middle of the night to protest!
Who’s with me?!
